College history

In 2007, Bathurst High School and Kelso High School became 7-12 campuses of Denison College of Secondary Education.

The college is unique among NSW Public School Colleges in that it has incorporated the strengths of the college model with the concept of two 7-12 campuses, Bathurst and Kelso, each with their own identity, history and cultures.

Denison College was first lead by Principal Kathleen Compton from 2007 – 2011. Our current Principal, Craig Petersen became Principal in 2011, and brings with him years of experience in educational leadership.

Denison College staff and students have been honoured and acknowledged by many awards over the 10 years of the College, including the Director Generals Award.

In addition to the daily operations of the campuses, the college also runs a number of significant events each year. These include:

High Achievers Reception

Held in February, this reception, usually hosted at Charles Sturt University, is a celebration of the outstanding success of students in Years 10, 11 and 12. Students and thier parents & carers attend this event at the invitation of the College.

Future Directions

Run during July, August and September, staff from the College lead an extended support process to guide Year 10 students and their parents & carers through the complex process of career planning and subject selection. Pleaes contact your local campus for more information.
